The Big Old Galvan-o-meter
This demo illustrate that a changing magnetic fluxthrough a closed electric circuit induces a voltage (emf) in the circuit. A coil of copper wire whose ends are connectedto a big galvanometer serves as the electric circuit. The magnetic flux is provided by a bar magnet and the change in flux is due to the relative motion between the magnet and coil. It is easy to show that no emf is induced when the flux is constant (no motion) and that the relative motion is what is relevant for induction.
